Indoor Throws Area

  • Athletes must be supervised by  coach in this area at all times
  • Priority is for Athletics New Zealand High Performance coaches and carded athletes
  • Bookings via Scott Newman scottn@athletics.org.nz.
  • Maximum number of people is five and only one athlete inside throwing area at a time
  • Other rules and safety guidelines as directed by Athletics New Zealand must be observed

Spikes

Spike length allowed: 6mm on Track, 6mm at Long Jump, 9mm at High Jump

Spiked shoes may only be worn during competition by athletes in Grades 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. This is an Athletics New Zealand Children’s Association rule.

NOTE:  Only Cone or Christmas Tree spikes may be worn in the Sportshall.

Starting Blocks

Use Club starting blocks or Club-approved private blocks. Anyone using spiked running shoes must use starting blocks for sprint and hurdle events (includes juniors).

Lane Wear and Tear

Limit wear on Lanes 1, 2 and 3 by not using them for training. If you are warming up, Lane 8 is as good as an inside lane - track etiquette is not to jog in Lanes 1 and 2.

Sprint Drills

Use grass areas for sprint drills, not Rekotan (all-weather track) areas. If grass is wet, use the areas of the Rekotan that are the least used (e.g. back of the high jump fan or on the outside of Lane 8 etc.)

Equipment

It is important to return Club equipment used for training to its normal storage location. Any equipment damage should be reported to Club Office as soon as possible.

Rules for the Weight Areas

  • Athletes Under 18 are not permitted to use weights and machines in the PowerZone unless accompanied by a supervising coach, and must have paid Powerzone membership.
  • Athletes must use a towel on all machines, weight benches and seats etc

Outside Club access times the Stadium is under control of the AUT Millennium,
